Senior Engineer - International Test Policy & Strategy:

Responsibilities:

Provides advice, coordination, and analysis support to the Director, Test Policy and Strategy at the Missile Defense Agency. Duties will focus on assisting with overall international coordination and analysis and implementation of international test strategy, policy, standards, guidelines, procedures and documents for a unified International BMD Test Process. Supports development and execution of the international strategy; supports planning and execution of test, integration, and fielding opportunities worldwide; advises and supports both the development of international agreements and subsequent execution of its responsibilities; provides functional expertise in support of responsibilities with various countries; assists coordination with the development/management of Security Assistance cases for the use of test assets; and, supports development of performance metrics for country and regional campaign plans.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or higher-level degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics).

  • Minimum 15 years experience with 10+ in international integration, testing, test planning, test execution, configuration control, and fielding for major systems.

  • Proven experience in implementation of DoD 5105.38-M, Security Assistance Management Manual (SAMM).

  • Knowledge of MDA BMDS programs.

  • Security Clearance: Secret or higher.

  • Strategic Planning and Policy Development experience desired.

Oracle Database Administrator:
VRI has available positions for Oracle Database professionals in the DC metro area and
Huntsville, AL to provide database management support in the broad range of maintenance and use of Oracle Database software to include development, maintenance support, system analysis and program development.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for support of the installed database management software, including the utilities, programming interfaces, compilers, interactive terminal software and transaction processing software.

Build new Oracle Instances; migrate application database subsystems; troubleshoot and run diagnostics of applications, system and vendor software.  Monitor and tune Oracle databases and applications.  Perform database software upgrades, installations and maintenance.

Code, test, implement and maintain database architectures.  Analyze and resolve database system production problems and execute database utility requirements.

Provide technical consulting services to the customer on questions and issues relating to the database software maintained on the systems.  Provide technical advice and consulting services during development of application programs and system interfaces.  Respond to problems that arise during program testing and  in production modes.

Use a variety of system monitors to monitor database performance and perform trend analysis on system performance.  Recommend configuration changes, and participate in the planning activities to schedule system upgrades.

Support and train government personnel within the IDMS/Oracle team.

Perform security reviews of the databases and database environments in accordance with the Government’s Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements and resolve all findings in a timely manner.  Apply patches or close findings as required.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in the full life cycle of managing Oracle database implementations in development and production environments supporting initial installation, user administration, and security.  Must possess specific experience performing database administration services for Oracle 8i, 9i in support of a variety of applications in client-server environments.  Hands on experience with massively parallel Oracle databases; data warehouse design; implementation and tuning; extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) tools; data migration; PL/SQL; troubleshooting and tuning multi-terabyte Oracle databases; and multidimensional database components in client/server and web architectures.  Familiar with designing new databases using Erwin and Oracle Designer 2000; triggers and stored procedures for data transformation; and PL/SQL for extraction processes.  Experience supporting data backup and restore operations, including remote site disaster recovery (COOP) support.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of general computer experience, and four years of Oracle database management (specialized) experience at or near the current release levels.  The general experience can be reduced by 2 years when accompanied with a Bachelors of Science degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, electrical engineering, or other related degree in mathematics or information system technology/engineering.

Special Requirements:

Candidates will be subject to a background investigation.

  • Must be a US citizen

  • Able to obtain ADP-1 clearance

  • Clearable to DoD Secret with SSBI

Database Administrator for GCCS-M:
To provide on-site Database Administration (DBA) for GCCS, GCCS-M, and the Consolidated History File (CHF) segment of GCCS-M.

This support will include:

  • Developing and performing ORACLE back-up and recovery procedures,

  • Performing database imports and exports, recovery-in-time, and table-space and data-file recoveries conducted under test and real time environments.

  • Troubleshooting and performance tuning of the CHF databases,

  • Configuration management of the CHF archives,

  • Provide support to COMPACFLT and COMLANTFLT Command Centers during data uploads to CHF

  • Assist CNO users in the use and maintenance of the GCCS-M and CHF databases.

  • Conduct configuration and user familiarization of the software, as well as other system and database administration tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years experience with Oracle Database software and tools.

  • Minimum two years experience as a Database Administrator

  • Minimum two years experience with HP UX or Sun Solaris preferred, but experience with another UNIX OS is acceptable

  • Minimum one year of experience with database replication (Oracle, SQL server, other) techniques and procedures

  • Experience with the Navy and Joint Status of Resources and Training System (SORTS) data, message formats in the past four years.

  • Experience with U.S. Military messaging in the past four years.

  • Experience with the Joint or Maritime GCCS in the past three years.

  • Clearance with Top Secret Clearable

System Administrator for GCCS-J:
To provide on-site GCCS-J system administration support for CNO sites as directed.

Administration support includes the following activities:

  • Provide GCCS software management for tactical and planning data, system and   application software updates.

  • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures for software maintenance functions.

  • Monitor operational system to avert possible system down time.

  • Manage, monitor and control access to the GCCS Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) (currently 12 in number)

  • Monitor LAN usage, error, and audit logs.

  • Maintain, configure and monitor several VLAN

  • Troubleshoot systems operational and software problems.

  • Troubleshoot communications infrastructure and connectivity problems.

  • Analyzes system faults and troubleshoots and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.

  • Administer Network Information Systems Plus (NIS+) and Domain Naming Service (DNS).

  • Establish standard operating procedures for SIPRNET access functions.

  • Add SIPRNET users to the system and arrange access to services as directed.

  • Demonstrate new features of GCCS and provide ad hoc updates on system and LAN status.

  • Install software on workstations and servers.

  • Provide technical support to headquarters or remote site users regarding GCCS operating procedures, SQL and ORACLE capabilities.

  • Provide support for designated remote and alternate site(s) as required.

  • Maintain familiarity with current and future GCCS-J software capabilities and functionality
