Oracle Database Administrator:
VRI has available positions for Oracle Database professionals in the DC metro area and Huntsville, AL to provide database management support in the broad range of maintenance and use of Oracle Database software to include development, maintenance support, system analysis and program development.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for support of the installed database management software, including the utilities, programming interfaces, compilers, interactive terminal software and transaction processing software.

Build new Oracle Instances; migrate application database subsystems; troubleshoot and run diagnostics of applications, system and vendor software.  Monitor and tune Oracle databases and applications.  Perform database software upgrades, installations and maintenance.

Code, test, implement and maintain database architectures.  Analyze and resolve database system production problems and execute database utility requirements.

Provide technical consulting services to the customer on questions and issues relating to the database software maintained on the systems.  Provide technical advice and consulting services during development of application programs and system interfaces.  Respond to problems that arise during program testing and  in production modes.

Use a variety of system monitors to monitor database performance and perform trend analysis on system performance.  Recommend configuration changes, and participate in the planning activities to schedule system upgrades.

Support and train government personnel within the IDMS/Oracle team.

Perform security reviews of the databases and database environments in accordance with the Government’s Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) requirements and resolve all findings in a timely manner.  Apply patches or close findings as required.

Qualifications:

Extensive experience in the full life cycle of managing Oracle database implementations in development and production environments supporting initial installation, user administration, and security.  Must possess specific experience performing database administration services for Oracle 8i, 9i in support of a variety of applications in client-server environments.  Hands on experience with massively parallel Oracle databases; data warehouse design; implementation and tuning; extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) tools; data migration; PL/SQL; troubleshooting and tuning multi-terabyte Oracle databases; and multidimensional database components in client/server and web architectures.  Familiar with designing new databases using Erwin and Oracle Designer 2000; triggers and stored procedures for data transformation; and PL/SQL for extraction processes.  Experience supporting data backup and restore operations, including remote site disaster recovery (COOP) support.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of general computer experience, and four years of Oracle database management (specialized) experience at or near the current release levels.  The general experience can be reduced by 2 years when accompanied with a Bachelors of Science degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, electrical engineering, or other related degree in mathematics or information system technology/engineering.

 

Special Requirements:

  • Candidates will be subject to a background investigation

  • Must be a US citizen

  • Able to obtain ADP-1 clearance

  • Clearable to DoD Secret with SSBI

Senior Analyst/Engineer:
Responsibilities:  Performs engineering tasks, either independently or under supervision, which are broad in nature and focused on the execution of Service or Joint test and evaluation programs.  Plans and performs engineering research, designs and conducts tests, and analyses’ results leading to enhanced tactics, techniques and procedures.  Supervises engineer/analysts and technicians, and is responsible for complex technical and engineering projects.  Needs to be familiar with advanced modeling and measuring techniques, statistical analysis and engineering methods, and have operational knowledge of C4ISR systems to determine the outcomes of Service and/or Joint test and evaluation programs.  Candidate must have at least a SECRET clearance, Top SECRET preferred, and extended background investigation highly desirable.

Education.  Requires at least a BS in Operations Research, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or other physical science, and experience in test and evaluation program management.

Engineer/Analyst:
Responsibilities.  Performs a variety of supervised engineering tasks which are broad in nature and focused on the execution of Service and Joint test and evaluation programs.  Plans and performs engineering research, test design and development, conducts tests and analyses’ results leading to enhanced tactics, techniques and procedures.  Coordinates the activities of technicians assigned to the technical/engineering part of a major test program.  Candidate must have at least a SECRET clearance, Top SECRET preferred, and extended background investigation highly desirable.

Education. Requires at least a BS degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics or other physical science, and experience in test and evaluation programs.

Software Engineer/Analyst:
Responsibilities.  Perform a variety of software/programming functions which are broad in nature and directly support the execution of Service and Joint test and evaluation programs.  Must have the ability to provide technical applications that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and responsive to discovering the tactics, techniques and/or procedures that will enhance joint operations.  Supports design, analysis and/or maintenance of complex software systems, including: computer simulations; client/server architectures; networking techniques and protocols; databases; as well as different programming languages and operating systems. Candidate must have at least a SECRET clearance, Top SECRET preferred, and extended background investigation highly desirable.

Education.  Requires a BS degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or the physical sciences and experience on DoD test and evaluation programs/projects.

Subject Matter Expert:
Responsibilities.  Performs high-level test and evaluation related functions, either independently or under supervision, which directly impact the design and/or execution of Service and Joint test and evaluation programs. Provides directly relevant test and evaluation expertise, either technical or operational, to include highly complex ana1yses.  Applies extensive expertise and knowledge of the subject matter to the team performing the assigned test program.  Candidate must have at least a SECRET clearance, Top SECRET preferred, and extended background investigation highly desirable.

Education.  Problem oriented operational expertise requires field experience with the equipment under test.  Technical expertise requires a BS degree with minimum 20 years experience, or a MS degree with minimum 10 years experience, or a Ph.D. with minimum 6 years experience.
